The Chairman of Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Bamidele Ologunloluwa, has commended the players and officials of Sunshine Stars for defeating Akwa United.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sunshine Stars FC of Akure defeated Akwa United of Uyo 1-2 in the match day four of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday.
Ologunloluwa’s commendation is contained in a statement issued by the Media Officer of Sunshine Stars, Femi Atolagbe, on Sunday in Akure.
He expressed happiness with the team for “a job well done” by defeating Akwa United to grab the first away win of the season, after sharing the spoils with Abia United at home on match day three.
The ODSFA boss also appreciated Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his support for the team.
The former commissioner for Youth and Sports Development said: “On our part as management, we will continue to motivate both players and their officials with good welfare package.
“We should be more focused on the target of the team, which is to win the league and play in the CAF competition next season.
“I thank our fans both home and in diaspora for believing in the team. We will continue to work hard and make you happy with positive results.”
Ologunloluwa charged the team not to lower the tempo of their game, urging them to consolidate on the away victory over Akwa United when they face Kano Pillars on Sunday in Katsina.
NAN reports that Sunshine Stars now have seven points from four matches and are tentatively second on the NPFL log, depending on the outcome of other matches of match day four. (NAN)
