The Chairman-elect of Igbo Etiti Local Government Area (LGA) of Enugu State, Dr Eric Odo, has said that his administration will be rooted on transparency and accountability.
Odo said this at a news briefing on Tuesday in Enugu, adding that he would ensure even distribution of infrastructure and social amenities among the communities in the area.
He further said that his administration would mostly benefit the down trodden in the area.
He expressed gratitude “for the kind of love and acceptance” showered on him by his people during his campaign.
Odo, a medical practitioner, hails from Nkporogwu in Ukehe and was the Chairman, Enugu State Hospital Management Board before his election.
He was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, having polled more than 95 per cent of the total votes cast.
NAN reports that the emergence of the surgeon sparked off wide jubilation amongst the people of the area.
Two prominent people from the area described Odo’s emergence as “a great blessing and victory well deserved”.
They said that his election was capable of bringing rapid transformation to the area.
Mr John Ugwueme expressed optimism that the chairman-elect would enthrone sanity by respecting the principle of equity, fairness and justice in the allocation of amenities among the various communities.
Ugwueme also hoped that Odo would attract meaningful developmental projects to the area, adding that his administration would help to reposition the council to be among the best in the state.
He congratulated the people of Igbo-Etiti “for making the right choice in the election”.
Another indigene of the area, Mrs Chioma Ugwu, said she was excited with Odo’s victory, pointing out that he was eminently qualified to lead the area to the next level.
She also said that Odo was coming at a time the council needed a chairman with the capacity and competence to turn things around for the people. (NAN)
