Maj.-Gen. Kevin Aligbe, Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC), has enjoined security organisations in the country to embrace new technologies to achieve success in modern warfare.
He said this at a Nigerian Army Research and Development Conference in Minna on Tuesday.
Aligbe, represented by Maj.-Gen. Jafaru Mohammed, Director, Joint and Combine Doctrine, emphasised the importance of investing in research and development to ensure national development.
The conference is entitled: “Leveraging Research and Development in Emerging Technologies as a Panacea for Success in Modern Warfare within a Joint Environment”.
The conference, which aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing, featured participants from the Nigerian Air Force and paramilitary agencies within Niger.
Earlier, Maj.- Gen. Mohammed Danja, TRADOC Chief of Research Development, Test and Evaluation, said that the conference was designed to build capacity on research development.
He described research and development as the basis of industrialisation and development of countries in the world.
“The conference aimed at sharing ideas and tap knowledge on how to use modern warfare to facilitate success in the battle field.
Danja added that areas of focus would be used of innovations and trends to shape the military environment, particularly the modern battlefield.
Dr Taliha Folorunso, Head of Mechatronics Department, Federal University of Technology, Minna, the lead facilitator, said that the paper presentation focused on innovative dominance.
“That is how Nigerian Army can innovate for dominance through collaboration with sister agencies and other institutions to become equal with other countries,” he said.(NAN)
