Rep. Babajimi Benson, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Constituency in the House of Representatives, has pledged to deliver more people-oriented projects in Ikorodu.
Benson gave this assurance on Sunday in Lagos, during an inspection of ongoing road projects in the constituency, emphasising his commitment to ensure development reached every part of Ikorodu.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ongoing road projects include the 6.8km Agbede/Itaoluwo road, scheduled for completion by October, and the 4.5km Abule-Eko/Ewu-Owa road, expected to be completed by January 2025.
Benson expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, stating, “I am not here for campaign purposes but to supervise the road under construction, and I am happy it has gone this far.”
He acknowledged the equal importance of development in every community within the constituency, promising to ensure that every area benefited from development initiatives.
Benson also recognised the efforts of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairman, Mrs Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, in facilitating the road construction project.
Gbadebo-Alogba described the road development in Ijede as a significant improvement for the community and Ikorodu central.
She noted that the long-overdue repairs have generated renewed interest, marking a major step forward for local development, as residents had previously considered selling their properties.
Mr Kazeem Sulaimon, Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, commended Benson’s practical representation and urged contractors to use standard materials to ensure the road’s durability. (NAN)
