The Anambra State Government on Wednesday said that the development of culture, entertainment, and tourism industry would place the state in a global map.
Mr Don Onyenji, the state Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, made the assertion while inaugurating a tourism city known as Soulcity in the Obosi community of the state.
He said that the inauguration of Soulcity was a plus to rural development.
Onyenji, therefore commended the facilitator, Soulcity Integrated Resource LTD, for investing in the state’s tourism industry.
According to him, the state government plans to open up rural communities through tourism activities.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Anambra State Government had partnered with Soulcity to develop rural communities through tourism.
Onyenji commended private entrepreneurs for partnering with the state government to develop the state tourism industry.
He urged the citizenry to key into the “Think Home Philosophy” of the state government to open up the state to the world, especially the rural areas.
He noted that Gov. Charles Soludo had created a friendly business environment to attract both local and international investors to the state.
The commissioner assured entrepreneurs of government’s support.
Earlier, Mr Nnamdi Nwokoye, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Soulcity Integrated Resource LTD, said that the tourism town would create over 50 thousand jobs for residents when completed.
Nwokoye described the project as a Smart City that would project the state on the world map.
According to him, the tourist town will have residential homes, schools, mini-mart, sporting facilities, health centers, among others.
Nwokoye commended the state government “for welcoming industrialists to create jobs for the youths and increasing the internally generated revenue for the development of the state.
“I appeal to other industrialists from the state to ‘think home’ and come home to develop the area.
“Please let us come home to build our state for posterity and lasting investment that will promote our business ingenuity for the good of our people,” he said.
Mr Suleiman Nicholas, Area Manager, National Inland Waterways Authority, Onitsha Area office, commended the state government for providing an enabling environment for business to thrive.
Nicholas said that the state waterways authority was working hard to make the waterways healthy to encourage and promote businesses.
He stated that the waterways authority had accorded the management of Soulcity Integrated Resource Ltd the necessary approvals required to operate the smart city for the pleasure of the citizens.(NAN)
