The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Barr Sunday Marshall Katung, has donated food items to widows and orphans within his constituency.
The gesture was part of activities lined up to celebrate his 63rd birthday anniversary and that of his mother.
It would be recalled that the Distinguished Senator, celebrated his 63rd birthday anniversary on the 1st of April, 2024.
Presenting the food items separately at the Rafiki Orphanage Home, Ungwan Rimi Bajju and ECWA Widows Training School Samaru Kataf, the representative of the Senator, Dr Joseph Thot and Mrs. Comfort Amwe respectively, also announced a cash donation to the staff and management of the two centers visited.
At the Rafiki Orphanage Home UNG Rimi Bajju, a total of 15 caregivers and management staff, received the sum of N20,000 and seven non academic staff including security men got N10,000 each.
This, according to Dr. Thot is to appreciate them for the sacrifices they are making in raising the children who look up to them for survival.
While at the Windows School Samaru Kataf, it was an emotional scene when each of the twenty five widows in the school received twenty thousand naira each and non-widows got ten thousand naira each to support their livelihood.
Responding on behalf of the widows, Mrs. Mary Habila thanked Senator Sunday Marshall Katung and his mother for wiping their tears and prayed to God to reward them abundantly.
Earlier the Principal of Ecwa Widows Training School Samaru Kataf, Mrs Sarah Bature and the Coordinator of the Rafiki Orphanage Home UNG Rimi Bajju, Mr. Cornelius Sam while thanking the senator for choosing the various institutions, appealed to other wealthy individuals to invest in orphans and widows as their prayers knows no bounds.
Items distributed to Rafiki Orphanage Home includes 10 bags of 50kg of Rice, 2 bags of soybeans, 3 bags of Maize, 2 bags of white beans, 3 bags of guinea corn, 2 bags of sugar, 20 bags of 10kg of rice, 4 gallons of 25 litres of palm oil, 40 cartons of Indomie, 20 cartons of spaghetti, 6 cartons of soap, 10 gallons of 4 kg of palm oil and 10 cartons of Maggi.
The items distributed at the Ecwa Widows Training School Samaru Kataf includes 2 bags of Soybeans, 2 bags of Maize, 2 bags of white beans, 2 bags of guinea corn, 2 bags of sugar, 15 bags of 10kg of rice,10 gallons of 4 litres of palm oil, 40 cartons of Indomie, 20 cartons of spaghetti, 4 cartons of soap, 4 gallons of 25 litres of palm oil, 10 cartons of Maggi and 25 pieces of jotters.
