The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police in Charge of Zone 5, Arungwa Nwazue, has urged newly promoted senior officers of the zone to mentor the junior officers.
Nwazue gave the charge on Tuesday while decorating the senior officers comprising two Deputy Commissioners of Police, one Assistant Commissioner of Police, four Chief Superintendent of Police and the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer.
SP Tijani Momoh, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
The AIG, while congratulating the newly promoted officers, reminded them that with promotion came greater tasks and responsibilities.
He urged them to be diligent and equal to the tasks ahead.
“Mentor the junior officers coming after you in the service of our Fatherland.’’
He added that the decoration was a follow-up to the recent promotion approved by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Olukayode Egbetokun.
Responding on behalf of the promotees, DCP Habila Daniel appreciated God Almighty for the promotion.
Daniel assured that the officers would tighten their belt for higher responsibilities and would continue to work assiduously in the fight against crime and criminality in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the zone comprises Edo and Delta.
NAN also reports that Momoh was promoted from his former rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police to a Superintendent of Police. (NAN)
