His Royal Highness, Zubairu Hamman-Gabdo, Lamdo Gashaka on Tuesday appealed to Taraba Government to invest in the Gashaka Gumti National Park in Serti, Gashaka local government area of Taraba.
Hamman-Gabdo made the appeal while interacting with newsmen in his palace at Serti, Gashaka local government area.
He explained that the park was endowed with numerous potentials that could serve as both economic and social benefits to the state.
The first class monarch also commended the Africa Nature Investors (ANI) Foundation for its efforts at enhancing security and conservation at the park.
He described the foundation’s partnership with the park as crucial in the restoration of law and order within and around the park.
According to him, the foundation’s efforts has significantly improved security and conservation in the area.
He also noted that the foundation’s activities had provided valuable training opportunities for local residents, enhancing the economy of the host community.
“These skills aquisation trainings include; tailoring, rice milling, as well as savings and loan schemes.
“Africa Nature Investor is doing a great job in the development of Gashaka Gumti National Park.
“Since they signed an agreement with the National Park Service in 2021, we’ve witnessed numerous contributions, including the donation of helicopters, firearms, and the training of park rangers.”
“I must commend the foundation for training community park rangers to prevent poaching and unauthorized entry into the park, especially by pastoralists and hunters, who previously entered without control.
“Thanks to ANI, security in the park has greatly improved so much that we no longer experience cases of kidnapping, armed banditry, or illegal mining in the park,” he said. (NAN)
