Alhaji Aminu Ja’oji, member of the Governing Council, Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum, has rolled out an empowerment programme for 484 women and youths in Kano State.
Ja’oji said while inaugurating the programme in Kano on Sunday, that the gesture was to support President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people.
According to him, the goal is to empower women, youths and other vulnerable groups with the needed capital and equipment to become self-reliant and employers of labour.
He explained that four of the beneficiaries would receive N1 million each, while 200 others would get N100,000 each.
He added that 100 beneficiaries would receive N50,000 each and another 100 people to get N20,000 each.
He also said that 50 beneficiaries would be empowered with sewing machines, while each of the remaining 30 beneficiaries would get a motorcycle.
“The gesture was in response to Tinubu’s call on all political appointees to support ongoing efforts to mitigate the effect of the current economic downturn, affecting mostly poor and vulnerable people in the country.
“It is not in our character to forget those who have supported and still supporting the All Progressive Congress (APC).
“We will continue to provide these kinds of support to APC supporters to complement the efforts of Tinubu.
He assured the beneficiaries that President Tinubu’s administration was working to take Nigerians out of poverty and other related human setbacks.
He urged the people to be patient with the current government, stressing that Tinubu has demonstrated the political will to transform Nigeria’s economy.
The National Chairman of APC, Mr Abdullahi Ganduje, lauded the Ja’oji for remembering poor and vulnerable women and youths in the society, and urged others to emulate.
Ganduje, who was represented at the event by the Chairman of the Kano APC Youths, advocated further support to supporters of the ruling party. (NAN)
