Yobe government has donated N100m to the victims of recent flood in Borno.
This is contained in a statement by Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Director-General Press and Media Affairs to Gov. Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu on Saturday.
He said Buni presented the donation to Gov Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno on Saturday in Maiduguri during a sympathy visit.
According to Mohammed, the governor also announced his personal donation of foodstuff worth N50 million to the victims during the visit.
Buni, according to the aide, described the humanitarian crisis as “catastrophic that calls for support and assistance from everyone.
“Yobe and Borno states are like twins that have suffered similar fate, and need the support of one another.”
He said Buni prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the flood and speedy recovery for the injured persons.
Zulum, Mohammed said, commended the government and people of Yobe for the kind-hearted support to their brothers in Borno.
“The people of Yobe and Borno states remained as one united family; what affects one, affects the other.
“l am proud to say that His Excellency, my elder brother, Gov. Mai Mala Buni, has since assumption of office as Governor of Yobe strengthened the ties and brotherhood between Borno and Yobe more than ever.
“Your administration has on several occasions identified with the government and people of Borno state.
“The government and people of Borno deeply appreciate Your Excellency for this very kind gesture,” he quoted Zulum as saying. (NAN)
