Mr Eluyemi Eluwade, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Command in Akwa Ibom, has urged personnel to show greater commitment towards service delivery.
Eluwade made the call at the third edition of the command’s quarterly conference in Ikot Ekpene.
He said that the essence of the conference was to evaluate personnel performance, and to review security threats in the state.
“We are doing this with a view to proffering solutions. This will not be an effort in futility,” he said.
The commandant said that the NSCDC leadership in the state would continue to provide avenues to review key performance indicators in line with the standard operating procedure.
“As a command, we have recorded appreciable improvement in the performance of officers since the last conference,” he said.
Eluwade urged the participants to take advantage of the conference to update themselves on latest strategies to tackle crime and economic sabotage.
He said that the conference would feature discussions on farmers-herdsmen clashes, kidnapping, robbery, inadequate logistics, operational inefficiency, and indiscipline, among others.
“Resolutions reached at the brainstorming sessions will be forwarded to higher authorities for further inputs and implementation.
” I urge you not to rest on your oars, there will be rewards for committed and outstanding performances,” he said.
In his remarks, the Conference Chairman, Mr John Cleton, commended the corps for its roles in the campaign against crime in the state.
Cleton, the Transition Chairman, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, commended the commandant for organising the conference, and described it as well-intended.(NAN)
