(NAN) A 36-year-old sales representative, Jacob Abiola, on Monday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N1,589,280 from his employers.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a two- count charge of felony and stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 3, at about 4.00p.m at Okokomaiko area of Lagos.
“The defendant stole the total sales amounting to N1,589,280 belonging to Ladi Multigate Enterprises and Kay Jay Zenith; his employers.
“The defendant was arrested by the people around and handed over to police for prosecution.
“The offences contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015,” he said
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr A. J. Aina granted the defendant N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
He said that one of the sureties should be a community leader with two years tax clearance.
Aina adjourned the case until Sept. 30, for mention. (NAN)
