The 2016 winner of Miss Nigeria, Chioma Obiadi, on Sunday urged young girls to emulate the new Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Adetshina’s self determination and confidence.
Obiadi, the 40th Miss Nigeria and a graduate of Geology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, gave this advice, while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos
Obiadi, had represented Nigeria at the Miss Earth Beauty Pageant in 2016.
She commended Adetshina for her courage and determination, during the 2024 competition.
According to her, the new beauty queen did not give up on her dreams in the face of difficulty.
“I have been in those shoes. I am incredibly proud of Adetshina’s journey.
“The resilience she displayed after facing setbacks in South Africa is truly inspiring. It is a true display of self confidence and self esteem.
“She did not let her experience break her spirit, instead, she pushed forward with more determination.
“Her inner strength will take her far, not only in pageantry, but in every aspect of life,” Obiadi said.
She added that Adetshina was a role model and ambassador for Nigerian culture and values.
The former beauty queen congratulated Adetshina and prayed to God to sustain her through her reign.
She urged young girls to emulate Adetshina’s spirit of fearlessness and assertiveness.
“I congratulate our resilient queen from the bottom of my heart and I wish her the best in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant,” she said.
NAN reports that Adetshina won the Miss Universe Nigeria, 2024, after beating 25 other contestants.
NAN also reports that Adetshina, 23, was raised in South Africa by a Nigerian father and a Mozambique mother.
She will be representing Nigeria at the Miss Universe grand finale in Mexico in November. (NAN)
