The Edo State government has expressed its commitment to adopting green technology as part of efforts to drive environmentally sustainable development, with a particular focus on enhancing agricultural productivity across the state’s 18 local government areas.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sir (Dr.) Lucky Eseigbe, during a meeting with representatives of EV Machine Tools Nigeria Limited, producers of lithium battery-powered motorcycles. The company is seeking to collaborate with the state government to promote the use of eco-friendly transport and energy solutions.
Dr. Eseigbe emphasised that the administration of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo is determined to position Edo as a preferred destination for both local and international investors, especially in emerging technologies that support sustainable growth.
“The Governor strongly believes in making Edo the next hub for forward-thinking investments. Green technology is a key part of that vision,” he said.
The potential partnership with EV Machine Tools Nigeria Limited could see the introduction of electric motorcycles to rural and agricultural communities, improving mobility, reducing emissions, and supporting farmers with cost-effective transport solutions.
