Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has issued a stern warning to public officials in the state, urging them to maintain high standards of conduct and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

This follows the resignation of the Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, whose exit is reportedly linked to his alleged involvement in the bail process of a suspected drug offender.

Speaking during the 30th Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday in Kano, Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption and drug-related offences.

He expressed concern over the rise of social vices, particularly drug abuse and trafficking, which he described as a significant threat to the state’s youth.

“We have made our position clear: misconduct, corruption, and any involvement in drug-related activities will not be tolerated under this administration,” the governor said.

Governor Yusuf warned that any public official found engaging in unethical behaviour would face the full weight of the law, stressing that the integrity of his government would not be compromised.

He urged members of the cabinet to adhere strictly to the values and principles of the administration, adding that those unable to align with the government’s vision should “voluntarily resign.”

“Our mission remains to restore sanity, integrity, and progress to Kano. We are accountable to the people, and we will not waiver in our commitment to justice and good governance,” he added.

The governor’s warning comes amid growing public scrutiny over the conduct of state officials and signals a renewed effort to enforce ethical standards across all arms of government.
