Sokoto State commissioner for Energy and Petroleum resources, Honourable Sanusi Danfulani has assured that the State Independent Power Project (IPP) is nearing completion and would soon be functional.
Hon. Sanusi who spoke after inspecting a complete and functional power restoration in Durbawa village of Kware local government, reaffirmed that the Governor Ahmed Aliyu led adminstration is committed to developing the state.
Danfulani who had earlier visited the Sokoto State House of Assembly in response to an invitation extended to him by the House Committee on Power, said the committee met his absence when they visited his Ministry, hence the reason for going.
According to the vibrant Commissioner, the lawmakers invited him because they came to the Ministry for oversight when he was at the State Executive Council meeting with the State governor.
“Well, the issue has been
finally resolved, because as at the time that the committee visited the ministry, I was attending a state executive council meeting with his Excellency Ahmed Aliyu, the executive governor of Sokoto State.
“So, we happened to miss each other. But now that I have appeared before them and explain the miscommunication and what led to my absence, both the Speaker and committee members have acknowledged the reason”.
While sressing that they are all working for the good of the State, Hon Danfulani
said, “the State Assembly is working for the development of the State, Just as the Executive Arm are also working for development of this state under the leadership of our governor, His Excellency, Ahmed Aliyu. May Allah continue to bless him for his good work”.
Still commenting on the IPP, Hon. Sanusi Danfulani “all the necessary things required to rebound the maribound power is already on ground, except for those we are still expecting from overseas to arrive. And by the time those ones arrived, the IPP will be effectively working. And I think that will not be too long as well. Maybe, in the next couple of months. Upon completion, the IPP will be on stream and useful for the state”.
Continuing, the Energy Commissioner said, so far the Sokoto Independent Power Project is now 80% completed. He also clarify in broad terms that the State is not partnering the federal government on the IPP as wrongly speculated by some.
“The whole project is being sponsored by the state government. There is no partnership yet”.
