The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested three dispatch riders in Abuja for allegedly distributing illicit substances across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

He said the arrests followed intelligence-led stop-and-search operations carried out by NDLEA operatives in the Gwarimpa, Jahi, and Galadimawa areas of the FCT on Wednesday, July 30.

The suspects – Sabo Sule (24), Samuel Nnamdi (28), and Idris Jibrin (28) – were caught in possession of 149.8 grams of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis.

Additionally, two more suspects – Aliyu Abubakar (25) and Adekunle Agbabiaka (30) – were arrested on Saturday, August 2 along the Abaji-Gwagwalada expressway with 91.1 kg of skunk, another strain of cannabis.

More Arrests in Lagos, Benue, Edo
In Lagos, NDLEA officers acting on intelligence arrested Joseph Michael in Mushin with 3.3kg of Colorado, a synthetic form of cannabis, on Saturday.

Another suspect, Ibrahim Sulaiman, was apprehended on Friday in the Iwaya area of Yaba with 16.5 litres of skuchies, a locally made cannabis-infused drink.

In Benue State, Hussein Yusuf (37) was intercepted at an NDLEA checkpoint along the Vandeikya-Ogoja road with 100,000 tramadol capsules on Friday.

In a separate operation in Ekpoma, Edo State, a warehouse raid led to the arrest of William Alabi (44) and the recovery of 233.5kg of skunk.

WADA Sensitisation Drive Continues Nationwide
Babafemi noted that NDLEA commands and formations across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns in schools, religious centres, workplaces, and communities.

Recent outreach activities include:

Ciroma Ibrahim Islamiyya School, Potiskum, Yobe State

Sultan Maccido Institute for Qur’an and General Studies, Wamakko, Sokoto State

Borno Express Transport Services, Maiduguri, Borno State

Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Abakpa Nike, Enugu State

In Osun State, the NDLEA command paid a WADA advocacy visit to the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdurasheed Adewale Akanbi, to further strengthen community engagement in the fight against drug abuse.
