The Interim National Chairperson of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Nenadi Usman, has reaffirmed the party’s position as the only credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking to journalists on Sunday in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area, Usman urged Nigerians to continue believing in the Labour Party, which she described as the most people-focused among the country’s major political parties.
“We are committed to restoring national dignity, rekindling hope, and delivering people-centered governance,” she stated.
Usman decried the worsening economic hardship in the country, saying the suffering of ordinary Nigerians had reached alarming levels.
Responding to recent defections from the Labour Party to the APC, the acting chairperson maintained that the LP remains strong and unshaken, insisting that it still enjoys widespread grassroots support.
She described those who defected as individuals who never truly shared the party’s vision, noting that their departure has provided clarity and strengthened internal unity.
“We made some mistakes in our candidate selection process, but those lessons have been learned,” she said. “Going forward, we will be more intentional in choosing candidates who genuinely align with our mission of building a new Nigeria.”
Usman also appealed to aggrieved party members to put aside their differences and unite as the LP prepares to embark on a nationwide membership revalidation exercise, congresses, and a national convention.
