Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Nigeria’s former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a significant national loss.
In a condolence message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nelson Chukwudi, on Monday in Port Harcourt, Fubara extended his sympathies to Buhari’s family, President Bola Tinubu, and the entire nation.
Fubara hailed Buhari as a disciplined leader and a man of integrity whose dedication to Nigeria’s unity and progress was unwavering.
“The late President’s years in office were defined by his firm stance against corruption, a commitment to national security, and the pursuit of critical infrastructure projects that form part of his enduring legacy,” Fubara noted.
Reflecting on Buhari’s career—from his role as Military Head of State between 1983 and 1985 to his democratic presidency from 2015 to 2023—Fubara described him as a leader who served with sincerity of purpose.
He said Buhari’s contributions to national development, service, and sacrifice would continue to be remembered by generations to come.
Fubara concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul and for comfort and strength for his family and loved ones during this period of mourning.
