Former Gombe State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Mohammed Barde, has called on members of the opposition coalition to embark on a massive mobilisation drive across the state’s 114 wards.
Barde who is leading the Gombe State Coalition Working Group, made this call during a stakeholders meeting on Friday.
He lambasted the current All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government in Gombe and at the federal level for “inflicting hardship faced by citizens via their policies”.
“The opposition coalition would unite to bring APC out of power and make life better for the citizens,” he declared.
According to him, the present administration has failed to deliver on its campaign promises, necessitating a change in leadership.
Barde further explained that mobilisation of the electorates is aimed at creating awareness about the coalition’s mission to provide quality leadership and governance in the state.
Other key speakers at the meeting expressed optimism about the coalition’s prospects.
Chairman of the Gombe Governorship Candidates Forum and former AAC gubernatorial candidate, Adamu Danmakka, expressed confidence that the alliance by the opposition parties could lead to victory, claiming that the present governor also formed a government through an alliance in 2019.
“And this alliance could work again in 2027”, he opined.
While the state SDP chairman, Adamu Modibbo, pointed the strength of the coalition in the state, stating that it comprises not less than 19 political parties, “making it a formidable force”.
