Dr Sani Shinkafi, a prominent member of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, dismissing speculation that he had defected.
Addressing journalists in Gusau on Sunday, Shinkafi clarified that his recent participation in the inauguration of state projects, at the invitation of Governor Dauda Lawal, did not signal a shift in allegiance.
“As you all know, I was invited by the Governor of my state, along with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Governor Mahmud Shinkafi, to commission several projects,” he said. “As a citizen of Zamfara, it was my duty to accept the invitation. But that does not mean I have left the APC.”
Shinkafi stressed that he remains a committed member of the APC both at the state and national levels. He urged residents of Zamfara to prioritise unity and development above partisan politics.
“Zamfara’s development is our collective responsibility, regardless of political affiliation,” he said. “We must come together to support Governor Lawal’s efforts to transform the state.”
A former National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Shinkafi acknowledged the Governor’s progress in delivering development projects. Yet, he reiterated that this support does not equate to leaving the APC.
“I have not resigned from the APC,” he insisted. “I remain a bona fide member of our great party.”
Shinkafi concluded by encouraging citizens to rally behind the state administration’s vision for stability and progress.
