President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved an extension to the tenure of Mrs Kemi Nanna Nandap, the current Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), following what the Presidency described as “significant strides” in immigration reform and border security.
Mrs Nandap, who assumed the role on 1 March 2024, will now remain in office beyond the initial end date of 31 August 2025. A seasoned immigration official, she began her career in the service on 9 October 1989 and is only the third woman to hold the top position in the agency’s history, after Rose Uzoma and Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju.
In a statement issued on Monday, Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga noted that Nandap’s leadership has been instrumental in advancing modernisation efforts within the service, particularly in the areas of border management and national security.
President Tinubu commended her for her commitment and effectiveness, urging her to continue aligning the agency’s priorities with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He reaffirmed the government’s full support for the Nigeria Immigration Service as it works to safeguard Nigeria’s borders and promote secure, legal, and orderly migration.
