The National Sports Commission (NSC) has applauded Joshua Aiyenuro Babatunde, popularly known as Tjosh, for setting a new world record in the longest continuous professional hairdressing session, completed at the Velodrome of the Abuja National Stadium.
Tjosh commenced the marathon on 10 June 2025 and successfully concluded it on 17 June 2025, earning him a place among Nigeria’s most celebrated young achievers.
Prominent figures, including NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director-General Honourable Bukola Olopade, visited the venue during the marathon to show their support and spur the young record-setter on.
In a statement released by NSC’s Director of Press, Mrs Kehinde Ajayi, Dikko praised Babatunde’s perseverance and ingenuity, describing it as a reflection of the dynamic and resilient spirit of Nigerian youth.
“This remarkable achievement reflects the industrious nature of our young people,” said Dikko. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has continued to prioritise youth empowerment, and Tjosh’s success underscores just how much potential lies within Nigeria’s creative sector.”
Director-General Olopade, a well-known advocate for youth innovation, also commended Tjosh for his determination and creativity.
“I saw in him a young man ready to make history when he visited my office. That’s why we approved the Velodrome for his attempt — and today, he’s made the entire nation proud,” Olopade said.
The accomplishment has been hailed not only as a personal victory but also as a milestone for Nigeria’s burgeoning creative industry, inspiring more young people to pursue world-class achievements.
