Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office, citing the administration’s ongoing reforms and achievements over the past two years as justification for continuity in leadership beyond 2027.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) North East Consultative Forum in Gombe on Sunday, Buni argued that President Tinubu had demonstrated capable leadership, navigating both domestic and international challenges to steer Nigeria forward.

“President Tinubu has launched bold initiatives aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and development,” Buni said. “While these reforms are already making an impact, they require more than a single term for full implementation.”

According to the governor, the administration’s reforms—though difficult in the short term—hold the promise of long-term socioeconomic stability, especially in sectors such as food security and public welfare. He pointed to policy measures that are enabling displaced residents in the conflict-affected North East to return to farming, boosting local economies and improving food availability.

“The President’s policies have not only brought renewed hope but are laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient Nigeria,” Buni stated.

He urged the North East region to continue supporting both the federal government and security forces in their efforts to restore peace, and called on the APC regional body to formally back Tinubu’s candidacy for the 2027 presidential election.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State also echoed the endorsement, highlighting visible progress in the region’s security situation under Tinubu’s leadership. He credited the administration with restoring calm and pushing back against threats that have destabilised the region for over a decade.
