Gov Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has called for greater synergy between his administration and the Nigerian Army in the fight against criminality and insecurity in the state.

Soludo made the call during a special Sallah Lunch at the 302 Artillery Military Cantonment in Onitsha.

Mr Chris Aburime, Press Secretary to Soludo who disclosed this in Awka on Sunday quoted the governor as commending the Armed Forces for their effort in collaboration with local vigilance groups in maintaining security across Anambra.

He said the Army had done well in areas such as Ebonesie, Ihiala, and Lilu saying their effects had been felt in no small measure.

According to him, we recognise and thank the Armed Forces and our vigilante groups who are playing a supportive role in our quest for safety.

Soludo extended solidarity with President Ahmed Tinubu, the Muslim community, and all Nigerians, saying that Sallah was a time for reflection and purification of the land.

“Let this Sallah period be a point of contact for general purification, encouraging those who are still loitering in camps to surrender and seek rehabilitation because no progress can be made without security and law and order,” he said.

Responding, Major Gen. Adewale Adekeye, the Commander of 302 Artillery, Onitsha said the Special Sallah was an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces.

Adekeye said the Army was committed to maintaining peace and harmony while upholding laws in the community.

According to him, we celebrate and remember the sacrifices of everyone, including the pilgrim and we commend the troops of Operation Udoka for their dedication and achievements in the field.

“We must be willing to sacrifice, just like Prophet Muhammad in our ongoing mission to ensure security and stability,” he said.(NAN)
