The Ondo State Government says it is committed to improving the infrastructural development across the 18 local government areas.

The government equally assured Akure residents that the 7.8km Oda road project would be ready for inauguration in June 2025.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Olawoye Abiola, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Akure.

Abiola said the total length of the road was 7.8km, and the dualised portion being 4km has been completed, while it remained 1km out of the 3.8km of the single carriageway.

According to him, with a very good weather condition, the road will be delivered at the set date.

He noted that there was variation on the road due to the current economic reality, especially as the road was awarded before the current administration.

NAN reports that the Oda road project was awarded during the first term of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

According to him, the contractor is working round the clock on the road to meet the target date.

“The single lane is about 11 meters width and that dual carriageway is about 9.3 meters width on both sides.

“So, we have walkway of 1.5 meters on both sides and we have hydraulics portion of 900 by 900 by 150 mm thickness. We also have 1.2 meters at median.

“The contractor has completed the segment of the dual carriageway and is working right now on the single carriageway, which is 3.8km and the contractor just has about 1km to complete Oda road project as of today.

“I think within one month or two months the road will be ready for road users.

NAN reports that the hydraulic portion of the road refers to the design and engineering of structures and systems related to water management, specifically dealing with stormwater runoff and its effects on road infrastructure.

The SSA emphasised that the completion of the project was a top priority of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration. (NAN)
