The Niger State Government has approved the consequential adjustment in salaries for some Medical Doctors .
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Bello Tukur, made this known during an emergency meeting with stakeholders.
He said the adjustment was to address the grievances of some Doctors following the recent recruitment of new doctors into the health sector.
The meeting which has in attendance the Permanent Secretary, of the ministry Dr Mohammed Gana, his counterpart from the Primary Healthcare Ministry, Dr Imam Abdullahi, and some Directors, with some members of the Nigerian Medical Association(NMA) was aimed addressing grey areas of the Doctors grievances.
The commissioner said the the adjustment is to encourage harmony among doctors, maintain retention and to boost their morale.
Report gathered that the recruitment has placed new Doctors ahead of their senior thereby affecting hierarchy within the system adversely hence the agitation.
It was also learnt that the meeting is coming at the behest of a circular from the Federal Government approving some adjustments in the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) to redress the complaints of relativity disadvantage for some categories of medical/dental officers in the Federal public service.
