The traditional ruler of Eggon, Justice Ahmed Ubangari-Alaku, Aren Eggon, has called for peaceful coexistence in the Eggon community and Nasarawa State in general.

The Aren Eggon made the call shortly after the Eid prayer on Sunday at his palace in Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

While urging Muslims to sustain harmony in the area, he advised the youth to avoid any act that could bring the Eggon community into disrepute.

Mr Ibn Aliyu, Council Chairman of Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government, expressed gratitude to Allah for allowing Muslims to witness the day and urged them to reflect on Ramadan’s lessons.

He encouraged Muslims to live peacefully with one another, regardless of religious differences.

“This day reminds us of teachings such as peace, unity, charity to the less privileged, and praying to God for the forgiveness of our sins.

“You should know that Ramadan fasting is an act of discipline for every Muslim. If you have undergone this trial, you must sustain that culture throughout life.

“It is not merely a time for celebration, but for reflection on Ramadan’s teachings.

“My wish is for us all to assess ourselves individually and collectively to ensure our actions align with the values of the season,” he said.

Addressing the resurgence of kidnappings in the Council, he assured that measures were being taken to curb the menace.

He urged residents to provide information that could assist security agencies in tackling insecurity.

“There is a need for cooperation between security forces and communities to share intelligence that enables necessary action against crime.

“While some intelligence cannot be disclosed publicly, I assure you we are addressing the issue and will ensure a secure environment,” he said.

Prof. Umaru Mohammed, the Wali Eggon, also called for peaceful coexistence and cautioned youth against involvement in kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities.

Earlier, at the Eid ground, Sheikh Jubrin Danladi, Chief Imam of Nassarawa-Eggon, reminded Muslims of the importance of peaceful coexistence with people of other faiths.

He emphasised the need for Muslims to maintain harmony and strive for peaceful living in the area.

Sheikh Danladi also advised Muslims to abide by Ramadan’s teachings, give alms to the needy, and respect authorities for the nation’s overall development. (NAN)
