The Asaba Magistrates’ Court on Thursday arraigned a 22-year-old man, John Musa, for allegedly stealing electronics worth N48 million.
Musa was charged with stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Mrs Blessing Okafor, told the court that the accused committed the offense on Aug. 2, at No.18 Summit Road, Asaba.
She alleged that Musa broke into a store and stole a 55 inches itech TV, 50 inches itech TV, 50 inches Hisense TV, a deep freezer and a fridge.
She said that he also stole two generators, an Air conditioner and other items, all valued at N48million, property of one Mr Samuel Ejike.
Okafor said the offence was punishable under Sections 516,453 and Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol 1 Laws of Delta state, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs Edith Anumodu granted the plaintiff bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the two sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must be relatives of the accused.
She added that both sureties must provide two passport photographs, identity cards and electricity bills.
Anumodu adjourned the case till Sept. 10, for mention. (NAN)
