Sen Ireti Kingibe, representing the FCT, and Prof. Kaletapwa George-Farauta, Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, have been named among Nigeria’s 100 Most Influential Women ahead of the 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD).

The announcement was made in Abuja by Gender Perspectives in Development, a gender-focused non-governmental organisation, in collaboration with Profiles & Biographies, a leading biographical documentation firm.

Also featured in the prestigious annual listing are Dr Oluwatoyin Madein, Accountant General of the Federation, and Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State Governor.

Other notable women on the 2025 list include Dr Suwaiba Sai’d-Ahmad, the Minister of State for Education, and Dr Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Interior.

Kachollm Danju, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, and Khadijat Abba-Ibrahim, member of the House of Representatives for Damaturu/Gujba/Gulani/Tarmuwa Federal Constituency, were also recognised.

The compendium, Nigeria Women Annual: 100 Leading Women, profiles accomplished Nigerian women across various sectors, including governance, business, activism, and entertainment.

The 2025 edition, edited by Kammonke Abam, Tammie Edet-Kammonke, and Steve Ogah, is scheduled for unveiling on March 8 as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations.

With the theme “Accelerate Action,” IWD 2025 calls for urgent steps to dismantle systemic barriers hindering gender equality and to create more opportunities for women in all spheres of society.

Past editions of the publication have featured high-profile women, including Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the President; Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO); Mary Odili, retired Supreme Court Justice; and Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister.

Now in its eighth year, Nigeria Women Annual: 100 Leading Women continues to amplify the achievements of Nigerian women, celebrating their impact and inspiring future generations.(NAN)
