Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), says the Federal Government remains committed to achieving the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP-25) goals.

Walson-Jack said this in Abuja when she received the NAN management team, led by its Managing Director, Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, in her office.

She sought partnership with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to enhance the dissemination of information on the FCSSIP-25.

NAN recalls that FCSSIP-25 was initiated in Nigeria to comprehensively reform the Nigerian civil service by improving service delivery to the public as well as addressing issues like inefficiency, lack of meritocracy, and outdated practices.

This plan is designed to be achieved through targeted strategies focused on capacity building, performance management, innovation, and a culture of accountability, ultimately aiming to create a more professional and effective public service.

Walson-Jack emphasised the need to accelerate the implementation of the FCSSIP-25, which is set to conclude on Dec. 31, 2025.

“We met the FCSSIP-25 on the ground upon assuming office, and from its name, you can see that the plan is scheduled to end this year, Dec. 31, to be precise. We, therefore, thought it fit to fast-track the reforms under this plan.”

The HCSF disclosed that seven “War Rooms” had been established to drive key initiatives under the strategy, adding that they had recorded significant progress.

“With the plan ending this year, we adopted the theme: ‘FCSSIP-25 Final Print: Delivering Results – Our Year of Accomplishment.’

“We remain committed to achieving the goals of this strategy before its conclusion.

“In this regard, we appeal to NAN to enhance its partnership with us in disseminating information on our activities,” Walson-Jack stated.

She lauded NAN’s reputation, recalling its longstanding credibility in news dissemination across Nigeria.

“NAN is a household name. Right from childhood, we knew that if a report came from NAN, it was authentic,” she said.

Earlier, Ali commended Walson-Jack for her distinguished career in the civil service, lauding her dedication and commitment to public service at both state and federal levels.

“It is an honour to be here and engage with you on this collaboration with NAN. Your career, which has spanned from the state to the federal level, is a testament to your dedication and commitment to public service,” he said.

The NAN MD assured Walson-Jack of the agency’s commitment to supporting the civil service reform agenda.

He also sought the HCSF’s backing in repositioning NAN as Africa’s premier news content provider.

“We believe that NAN stands to gain a lot from greater collaboration with your office. This engagement is critical in our efforts to revamp NAN and reclaim our position as the leading news content provider on the continent of Africa,” he said.

According to him, NAN has existing partnerships with international news agencies such as Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP), and Xinhua, and was in discussions with the Associated Press (AP) among others for further collaboration.

The NAN delegation included Abdulhadi Khaliel, Director of Administration and Human Resource Management; Mufutau Ojo, Editor-in-Chief; Kayode Olaitan, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics; Dayo Osho, Protocol Officer to the MD; and Stephanie Oyovbaire, Assistant Chief Administrative Officer.
