As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) has called on Muslim organisations and Ulamas to prioritise harmonious coexistence in the society during the Ramadan fast and beyond.
The President of SCSN , Sheikh Abdulrasheed Hadiyyatullah, made the call at the Annual Pre-Ramadan meeting on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Hadiyyatullah also emphasised the importance of unity, moral integrity, and peaceful solutions to societal concerns.
He said Ulamah should provide guidance during the Ramadan, emphasising compassion, justice, unity, and tolerance.
Hadiyyatullah called on the Muslims to turn to Allah in sincere repentance, unwavering devotion, and renewed faith.
He urged, ” Islamic scholars must work together to provide moral and spiritual guidance.”
Hadiyyatullah emphasisede the importance of unity among the Muslims, regardless of ethnic and geographical differences.
The council urged the Ulamas to advocate for government’s empathy and practical solutions to address the prevailing economic challenges.
He urged, “Religious leaders must work to restore moral integrity by reinforcing ethical teachings.
“The council cautions against violence and encourages open dialogue and constructive engagement with the government.”
Hadiyyatulla urged all the Muslim leaders to convey these important messages to the faithful, promoting unity, moral integrity, and peaceful solutions to societal concerns.
Also speakijg, the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru, urged Nigerians to pray for leaders and for the country.
Badaru said: “The prayers should be for peace and prosperity. They are the best to offer such prayers.
“Well, you have seen that the security is improving, and it’s only Allah that can give assurance.
“But I will tell you, we will do our best to make sure people are secure.” (NAN)
