Gov Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has assured of unlocking more tourism potentials in the state for investment purposes and revenue generation.

Aiyedatiwa stated this during a news conference at the Araromi seaside beach in Ilaje local Government Area of Ondo State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme was part of activities to mark his swearing-in on Monday as governor, after he won the Nov.16 governorship election.

The governor, at the conference with the theme ‘Unlocking Investment Opportunities Around the Sea’, assured that every sector of the economy in the state would benefit from his administration.

According to the governor, the visit to the beach is part of the commitment of my administration to expand the tourism and investment prospects of the state.

“The visit is to showcase the riverine region’s vast economic opportunities, because investors and companies are already showing interest.

“They are already in discussion with us as partners, and this will materialise in the coming months.

“We want investors, both local and international, to see the untapped opportunities that exist in Araromi and other parts of the state.

“Our coastline, infrastructure projects, and strategic partnerships all point to a bright future for tourism, trade, and economic expansion.

“The strategic location of this area, just a 45-minute journey away from Lagos, will become even more accessible with the ongoing development of the coastal highway, which will enhance connectivity and boost tourism.

“This will create jobs, boost revenue, and enhance the quality of life for our people.

“Ondo State is open for business, and we are ready to work with stakeholders to transform our natural assets into thriving economic hubs,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa also said the delay of the deep sea port project, approved by former President Muhammadu Buhari, required a restart due to an error in the initial approval.

The governor assured that progress was underway, while international investors were engaged to ensure the Ondo State Deep Sea Port became reality.

Earlier, Oba Adeoloye Olawole, the Alara of Araromi Kingdom, expressed gratitude for the governor’s focus on development, particularly the award of two intra-town road projects in the area.

“Araromi Sea-Side kingdom is not just a settlement, it is an economic hub waiting to be fully explored.

“We are a peaceful, progressive people who value development, education, and collaboration with the state to foster economic growth,” he said. (NAN)
