The Council of Ondo Youths Forum (CONYF) has passed a vote of confidence in Sen. Jide Ipinsagba, representing Ondo North Senatorial District, describing him as a leader who wholeheartedly embraces and supports the district.
The council comprises Akoko East Youth Forum, Akoko South-West Youth Forum, Akoko South-East Youth Forum, Akoko North-West Youth Forum, Owo General Assembly and Ose Youths Forum.
The council in a communique read by Mr Joseph Oguntuyi, President, Akoko South-West Youth Forum on behalf of the council in Ugbe Akoko, expressed satisfaction with Ipinsagba’s facilitation of dividends of democracy in the area.
It commended the lawmaker for his continued efforts at inspiring and uplifting youths in the district.
The youths said Ipinsagba was one of the few senators who did not restrict visitors by “setting days aside as visiting days.”
The council noted the senator’s untiring efforts on youths empowerment, community development and progressive leadership had been evidence in his service in the last 18 months.
“We remain committed to working with Ipinsagba for the betterment of Ondo North.
“His open-door policy, willingness to engage with young people, and commitment to our collective progress have solidified a bound of trust and collaboration.
“In terms of impact and redistribution of Ondo North commonwealth, the senator achievement in just one and half years in office is the stuff of legends.
“His empowerment programmes and infrastructural intervention in Ondo North are unparalleled, even as the senatorial district expect more dividends of democracy in the years ahead
“There is hardly a community or local government area that has not experienced his uncommon commitment to ensuring every constituent enjoys the dividend of his representation,” the council said.
The youths noted that the motive behind the recent sponsored “malicious media campaign” by some youths was for the sole purpose of “cashing out and blackmailing the senator to bend to their greed.”
According to the youths, merit, fairness and constructive criticism must not be sacrificed on the altar of primordial sentiments, primitive allure for relevance, deliberate witch-hunt and crude politicking.
“This delusional voyage of expedition is anchored on the news to dance to whim and caprices of some political leaders for instance gratification or perhaps future political gain.
“Perhaps, the anger of this group is that the senator prefers to ponder to the needs of his people than the greed of few entitled mercenaries.
“For this, we offer no apology for it is our firm conviction that the needs of the majority must always trump the desires of a tiny minority. We will not allow ourselves to be blackmailed under any circumstances.
“We advice the distinguished senator, other representatives and relevant stakeholders not to be discouraged and distracted by paid detractors,” the council said.
The council promised to promote unity, development and meaningful engagement for the progress of the senatorial district.
The youths called on all stakeholders and well-meaning individuals to stand with them in fostering a future of growth and opportunity for the people. (NAN)
