An Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, has sentenced a 23-year-old man, Sanusi Bello, to three months at the correctional service, for stealing a wheel barrow.
The Magistrate, Mr L.K.J Layeni, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge brought against him by the police.
Following his plea of guilt, the court convicted him as charged.
Stating the facts of the case, the prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 7, at the Alaba Rago Market in Ojo.
He said that the defendant stole a wheelbarrow parked at the market, belonging to one Isia Saidu.
According to him, the defendant was consequently arrested by the police and charged.
He said that the wheelbarrow was valued at N255,000.
In its verdict, the court sentenced the convict to a term of three months at the correctional service, to begin from the date of sentence.
The defendant was not given any option of fine. (NAN)
