In a bid to inspire Nigerians to make a positive difference in their communities, MTN Nigeria (MTNN) has inaugurated the Go Make a Difference (Go M.A.D) Campaign.

The MTN Nigeria Chief Marketing Officer, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, said this at the media launch of the Go M.A.D Campaign in Lagos on Wednesday.

Ikenna-Emeka said the initiative aimed at inspiring Nigerians to dream, act intentionally and create meaningful changes in their communities.

“Despite the challenges facing the country, Nigerians have shown remarkable resilience and energy.

“MTNN believes that by supporting individuals making a difference in their communities, it can inspire others to do the same.

”The campaign, which will run across the country, aims at identifying and supporting individuals who are making a positive impact in their communities.

“MTN Data will provide seamless data services to support these individuals and organisations,” she said.

According to the MTNN official, the organisation plans to hold various activities across the country including community outreach programmes and events to promote the campaign.

“We see you, we support you, and we are here to work with you to make a difference in the communities,” she said.

Ikenna-Emeka said that by inaugurating this campaign, MTNN hoped to inspire Nigerians to make a positive difference in their communities and to promote a culture of resilience and determination.

She cited the example of Tunde Onakoya, a young Nigerian chess champion who rose to become a global champion despite facing numerous challenges.

“Tunde’s story is one of determination and perseverance, and MTN Data hopes to inspire others to follow in his footsteps.

“This new campaign aims at inspiring progress and supporting individuals making a difference,” she explained.

Also speaking at the event, the Chess Champion, Tunde Onakoya, urged Nigerians to emulate the values of resilience and perseverance.

He said that these qualities were essential for achieving success.

Saying that he understood the pain of perseverance, Onakoya added that a champion was one who never gave up.

“And I think it is important that for our society, we are able to show people new role models, people that embody the true essence of being champions,” he said.

Onakoya, also the Convener of Chess in Slums Africa, said that his story was a testament to the fact that it was possible to achieve great things with small blessings.

He commended MTNN for highlighting his story, saying that he hoped it would inspire many people to pursue their dreams, in spite of the challenges they may face.

“As long as you do not give up, someday, just someday, the world will know your name and I hope we can make a difference with that,” Onakoya stressed.

NAN reports that the highlight of the event was Onakoya competing against MTNN’s champion strategic thinkers, which exemplify the company’s values of innovation, collaboration and excellence. (NAN)
