The newly-appointed Executive Secretary of Caritas Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Peter Babangida-Audu, has pledged visionary leadership to advance the organisation.
Audu, an administrator and management professional, took over the running of the body from Rev. Fr. Uchechukwu Obodoechina, who served for eight years.
He made the pledge in his inaugural speech in Lagos.
NAN reports that Caritas Nigeria is an arm of the Catholic Church.
It was instituted by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria to carry out humanitarian works.
Its humanitarian services are not limited to members of the Catholic church, as any member of the society can benefit from the services which are focused more on poverty alleviating.
Audu acknowledged the good performance of his predecessors, and pledged to build on it.
“My vision is to contribute significantly to the attainment of the vision of Caritas Nigeria – to have a harmonious environment where everyone enjoys the fullness of life.
” It is also my vision for us to build a stronger non-profit faith-based organisation, one that embraces the future and delivers on its promises.
” My dream for Caritas Nigeria is to create a people-focused organisation, a disciplined and value-based organisation, an efficient and effective organisation focused on impact for the beneficiaries and value for the donors,” he said.
He urged unity, integrity, accountability, responsibility and impact among all stakeholders. (NAN)
