The Publishers and Management of OurNigeria Magazine have nominated, President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, as “Ournigeria Man-of- the-Year 2024” for actualising the dream of private petroleum refinery in Nigeria.
The Chairman, 2024 Ournigeria Award Planning Committee, Dr AK Peters, said this while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
Peters said that Dangote was recognised for bringing to reality the brilliant dream of the first Private Petroleum Refinery in Nigeria, giving the ordinary man hope that Nigeria could be great again.
He said the Ournigeria award is an annual recognition of top-notch trailblazers and uncommon national patriots of quintessential dimensions who have distinguished themselves in their spheres of endeavours.
He added that the recipients were people who had promoted the Nigerian brand and should be emulated.
“The 2024 edition of this award has as its theme, “Nigeria Rising: Celebrating Excellence and Charting the Future”.
“It is designed to promote and project rare germs whose undiluted patriotism and hard work has transformed the landscape of our fatherland.
“It will be a gathering of Who is Who and Best of the Best in Nigeria, including technocrats, bureaucrats, statesmen, politicians, captains of industry, military top brass and statecraft operators.
“They also include members of the diplomatic community, traditional and religious leaders, socialites, Office of the Nigerian Citizen, Media among others.
“The event will be chaired by the renowned Elder statesman, Alhaji Umar Abdulmutallab, while the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, will be the Special Guest of Honour,’’ he said.
Peters explained that the recipients of the Ournigeria Award emerged through a highly competitive and meticulous screening process by a team of assessors.
According to him, three finalists emerged from a list of 10 nominees in each category.
He said that the winners emerged from the list of three finalists, adding that there was no boardroom nomination for the 22 categories of awards.
Peter said that other awardees include Gov. Mohammed Bago of Niger for game changer award; retired Lt-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun and Brig.-Gen. Mike Mukokomani from Botswana for TY Buratai Excellence Award in Military Leadership, among others. (NAN)
