The Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (PHCDA), has identified revitalisation of health facilities, routine immunisation, facility deliveries and nutrition information as priority areas to shape its operation in 2025.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Shehu Sambo, highlighted the areas during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse, on Tuesday.
Sambo said the first priority was to strengthen the ongoing revitalisation of health facilities across the state.
“As an agency, one of our key priorities is to ensure that most of our rural health facilities are revitalised in 2025,” he said.
He also identified routine immunisation, facility deliveries and nutrition information as other areas that would be given attention by the agency within the year.
“In 2025, we want at least 80 per cent of our children to have basic routine immunisation and 80 per cent of our women to deliver under skilled attention.
“We also want at least 80 per cent of our women to attend or access quality antenatal care services; we want 80 per cent of our children and pregnant women to be reached with information on nutrition,” Sambo said.
The executive secretary assured that the agency would do its best to stamp out malnutrition in the state.
“To achieve our mission, we will improve the quality of our health facilities, the quality of health care services, as well as reach out to the most vulnerable population of our state,” he said. (NAN)
