Members of Yobe State Forum of Chief Executives of Boards and Parastatals have visited the Specialist Hospital, Damaturu, to support vulnerable patients.
Engr Mustapha Goniri, the Interim Chairman of the forum, explained that the visit was part of the group’s Corporate Social Responsibility.
“We intend to hold this occasion in December 2024, but due to some logistic and technical problems, it was scheduled for January 2025,” he said.
Goniri emphasised that the forum chose to visit hospitals because health issues affect all segments of society.
“We are here to pay a sympathetic visit to patients and pray for their quick recovery.
“We also brought along some funds to assist selected vulnerable patients with their medical bills,” he added.
Dr Usman Abba, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, expressed gratitude for the forum’s gesture, describing it as a “life-changing game.”
He noted that the selection of the hospital by the forum was appropriate because the hospital receives referrals from across the state.
He also explained that the management carefully selected the patients based on their needs, conditions and financial constraints.
The CMD assured that the hospital management would monitor the use of the donated funds to ensure they are used for the intended purpose.
He also pledged to top up the funds if they fall short of the patients’ needs.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the forum members visited various wards, including postnatal, antenatal, gynecology, pediatric, accident and emergency.
Malam Falmata Bukar, a guardian of one of the beneficiaries, expressed deep appreciation to the forum and the hospital management for their support and prayed for Allah’s blessings upon them. (NAN)
