The Interim Committee on the actualisation of the United Africa States (UAS) has announced the revitalisation of the long-defunct UAS and unveiled its vision to elevate Africa’s status among committee of nations.
Mr Ato Terngu, the President of the Interim Committee, told newsmen on Monday in Abuja, that UAS was established to promote integration and unity of Africa as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution as amended.
He said the revitalisation of UAS was a significant step to redefining Africa’s future, under the banner of “A New Africa’s World” initiative.
Terngu said the initiative was envisioned to have a continent that was united in purpose to achieve economic growth, development and prosperity.
“The revitalisation is to foster collaboration among African states in critical areas such as trade, technology, education and governance.
“By working together, African nations can overcome historical challenges and unlock unprecedented opportunities for their people,” he said.
Terngu expressed optimism about the potential impact of the initiative, adding that it was a turning point in the continent’s history to strengthen ties among African nations and redefine their collective role in global affairs.
According to him, as the vision for a “New Africa’s World” gains momentum, all eyes are on the UAS to deliver on its promise of unity, development and equality.
He said the committee was working with the various governments within the African continent to offer necessary support lo lead Africa out of its current quagmire.
Terngu said Nigeria occupied a strategic position in Africa and so, must be involved in mobilising other countries in the continent to fund the UAS project.
He pledged that the committee would work with countries within African continent to succeed and actualise the UAS project to change the current condition of Africa.
Terngu said some partners had indicated interest to support the committee to actualise the UAS adding that, the number of interest so far received was inspiring.
According to him, the committee is open for more partnership to realise the AUS project and take Africa from its present condition and make it a global financial capital through job and wealth creation. (NAN)
