An Area Court in Jos on Wednesday, sentenced Patrick Pam, to 6 months imprisonment, for stealing five mobile phones, earrings and necklaces worth N 122,000.

The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

The Judge, however, gave the convict an option of N 30,000 fine or six months imprisonment for theft and asked him to pay a compensation of N 62, 000 or six months in default.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Labaran Ahmed, told the court that the case was reported at the B division police station Jos, on Nov. 16, by Mr Theophilus Pwakim.

He said the complainant said the accused person trespassed into his house and stole five mobile phones and earrings and necklaces valued at N122,000.

The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation, the accused person confessed to have committed the offence and the five mobile phones were recovered from the accused person.

He said that the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)
