The police in Lagos have brought a 51-year-old man, Chigozie Nwogbodo, before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court for alleged threat to life.
Nwogbodo was arraigned before Magistrate L. K. J Layeni on a three-count charge of conspiracy, threat to life and causing bodily harm.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant conspired with others at large to commit the offences at the Alaba International Market, Ojo.
Uche said that the defendant threatened to kill one Mr Kenneth Ezeani through a secret cult known as Arugba.
The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant attacked Ezeani with a cutlass and inflicted an injury on him.
The alleged offence contravenes the provisions of Section 56, 172, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
It adjourned the case until Feb. 3, 2025, for mention. (NAN)
