The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, has been commended for her vision and determination to boost the hospitality sub-sector of the aviation industry.
The President of the Airports Fire and Safety Multipurpose Cooperative Society (AFSMCS), Alhaji Saheed Sadiq, gave the commendation while speaking with aviation correspondents on Sunday in Lagos.
AFSMCS owns the Firecoop Aviators’ Lodge on the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road, Ikeja.
Sadiq said that the facility had enjoyed Kuku’s interventions, adding that she ensured that the lodge enjoyed regular power supply.
“The role the MD of FAAN has played in the whole of this investment cannot be overemphasised.
“The energy we are consuming here today is courtesy of FAAN, and we remain grateful to the management for the laudable support,” he said.
He, however, solicited the support of the agency and other aviation industry stakeholders in completing furnishing of the lodge.
“We appeal that they support us in furnishing the new wing of 24 rooms as we have completed the structure itself.
“Due to the fluctuating price of things, to completely furnish this facility, we need nothing less than N250 million.
“The management can also help to liaise with the local government and Lagos State Government to help to fix the road,” Sadiq said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kuku had said that boosting hospitality infrastructure around Nigeria’s airports was pivotal to ensuring passengers’ safety, comfort and timely arrival at the airports for travels.
NAN also reports that the new wing of 24 rooms was inaugurated recently.
At the event, Kuku, represented by the FAAN Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs Obiageli Orah, said that construction of the lodge was part of her vision to improve passengers’ movement around the three terminals at the airport. (NAN)
