The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun Command, on Tuesday in Abeokuta decorated 805 newly promoted senior officers.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that the officers were promoted on optimal performance in the 2024 promotional exams, managed by Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Mr Olusola Subari urged the officers to continue to drive ethical standards.
The outgoing Commandant of the Command, Assistant Commandant-General ( ACG) Mr David Ojelabi in his opening speech, commended the Federal Government for the massive promotions.
“The Federal Government, through the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji- Ojo, has indeed fulfilled the pledge of tackling stagnancy in the service.
“Over 10,000 officers wrote the 2024 exams nationwide and about 937 made it,” said.
He however, noted that numerous challenges surrounded the process, adding that through strategic thinking and commitment, they were able to surmount it.
Ojelabi consequently urged the promoted officers to be diligent and update their skills on intelligence awareness.
Earlier, Mrs Aderonke Adeogun, Olori of Igbore Egbaland, in her remarks said that the promotions will go a long way in motivating the officers.
She stressed the need for them to raise the bar in the discharge of their duties.
The Head of anti Fraud Unit, Mr Adedipe Mobolaji described the promotion as the first of its kind in the service.
Mr Abiodun Fabiyi, the head of the organising committee of the event, who also earned promotion as Deputy Commandant Corps (DCC), praised Ojelabi for improving the command.
“As you move into next level, I am confident that you will continue with the development,” Fabiyi said.
