A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Muritala Audu, says the FCT Minister and former governor of Rivers, Mr Nyesom Wike should consider national interest and take steps to end his rift with Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, his successor.
Audu, the Aare Omoluwabi Atunluse Oodua, in a statement on Monday in Lagos, described the protracted feud between the duo and the political tension in tbe state as unfortunate.
The APC chieftain called on President Bola Tinubu to prevail on the FCT minister to take steps to douse the political tension in the state.
Audu said: “I want to call on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and urge the minister of FCT, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike to prioritise national interest above personal interest and gain.
‘This plea has become necessary amidst the rising tension and recent controversies surrounding Wike’s statements and actions against key political figures in Rivers.”
Emphasising the importance of unity, stability, and progress in Nigeria, the chieftain urged Wike to reconsider his stance and engage in constructive dialogue.
“As leaders, we must prioritise the well-being and prosperity of our nation and its citizens.
“Let us work together to address our differences through constructive dialogue and collaboration,” he said.
Highlighting the significance of working together as a nation to achieve greatness, Audu called on Wike to put aside personal differences and focusing on the greater good.
“My impassioned plea serves as a reminder of the power of unity and collaboration in achieving a brighter future for Nigeria,” Audu said.
NAN reports that Wike and his successor, Fubara, have been engaged in political struggle over the control of the state for some months now, which has created tension in the state and polarised the state assembly.
The crisis worsened following the conduct of the Oct. 5 council elections ,the outcome of which led to violent destruction of some council secretariats by political thugs.(NAN)
