It was a night of fun and thrills as musical artistes on Tuesday in Lagos gave electrifying performances at the New Afrika Shrine in celebration of Felebration 2024.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the musical concert is part of the activities for “Felebration”, an annual musical festival In memory and celebration of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
The musical festival, with the theme, “Look and Laugh”, holds from Oct. 14 to Oct. 20.
Skales, May D and Durella gave thrilling performances as the crowd danced and partied all night long in the Afrika shrine.
Durella performed his hit singles, “Shayo”, “My Life”, “Wiskolowiska”, while May D performed his songs which includes “So Many Tinz”, “Gat Me High” and “Shayo” amongst others.
Some fun seekers who spoke with NAN expressed excitement in witnessing the live performances of some of their favourite artistes.
Mr Olumide Sumi, a student, said he was excited about the event and commended the organisers for the initiative.
“I have never had the opportunity to see any of these artistes perform live, so, I’m supper excited about this as it has been sending shivers down my spine.
“I have always been a fan of Durella, Skales and May D and I have finally had the opportunity to see them face to face,” he said.
Yomi Talabi, who came in company with his brothers, said that he was thrilled with the performances.
“The performances have been wonderful as I have been dancing along with my brothers. We have been here since 7. 00 p.m. and I don’t intend to leave anytime soon.
“I’m glad to witness this opportunity and we would definitely be here for all the week-long events,” Talabi said.
Another fun seeker, Bunmi Ishola, noted that the annual event would help in opening the city to the international community and continue to promote Afrobeats to the entire world.
“This annual practice must go on as it will maintain the exposure of Afrobeats to the international community and help in developing tourism in Lagos state,” she said.
Felabration has hosted renowned international artistes and features diverse activities, including debates, dance competitions, art exhibitions, and more, all aimed at honouring Fela’s profound contributions to the society. (NAN)
