The Osun government said that over 700 youths had registered for its maiden creative conference targeted at driving the state’s economic development.
The Special Adviser to Gov. Ademola Adeleke on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mr Bamikole Omishore, announced this in a statement on Saturday in Osogbo.
Omishore, who noted that the conference slated for Jan. 28 and Jan. 30 at SDG skill acquisition centre in Iragbiji, said it underscores the state’s government commitment to fostering economic growth through creativity.
He said that the conference would focus on Goals 8, 9 and 11 of the SDGs which centred on decent work and economic growth Industry, Innovation, Infrastructure, as well as sustainable cities and communities.
He said that the event with the theme, “Innovate, Create, and Transform: Unlocking the Creative Economy for Sustainable Development,” would highlights the significant role of creativity in driving economic growth and achieving sustainable development.
“This event, with over 700 registered applicants, aligns with Gov. Adeleke’s agenda to drive economic growth by leveraging creativity and innovation.
”Through collaboration with the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Agency on Creativity, Entertainment and Art, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, stakeholders, private sector leaders, and development partners, we have worked tirelessly to make this ground breaking conference a reality,” he said.
Omishore added that the conference would feature series of engaging sessions, exhibitions, and cultural showcases designed to inspire and empower participants, who were mostly youths with potential in the creative sector.
Similarly, the Chairman of the state House of Assembly Committee on ICT and SDG, Adewumi Adeyemi, said that the conference underscores the critical role of creativity and culture in driving sustainable development.
“By fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and cultural preservation, this conference will help shape a more inclusive, resilient and vibrant creative economy.
“We also hope this event will provide a sustainable framework to drive Osun’s creative sector forward,” he said. (NAN)
