MTN Nigeria, the official telecommunications partner of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday reiterated its unwavering support for the Super Eagles.
MTN Nigeria reiterated its support in a statement following the Super Eagles spirited draw with Zimbabwe in a World Cup qualifier match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
The Chief Executive Officer, MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola, said that in spite of the match’s outcome, MTNN was confident of the team’s ability to make Nigeria proud and qualify for the World Cup.
Toriola said that while the outcome of the match was not what was hoped for, MTN remained steadfast in its support for the Super Eagles.
He said that this result was just part of the journey towards World Cup qualification, adding that it believed in the team’s resilience and ability to succeed.
“Our support for the Super Eagles and all national teams is part of our longstanding tradition.
“We are building a sustainable legacy of collaboration, growth and development in the football space.
“Tonight’s result does not change our belief in the team’s potential to make all Nigerians proud on the global stage, we believe in our Eagles,’’ he said.
Toriola, however, urged Nigerians to rally behind the team while emphasising that this was a crucial time for unity and continued support.
The CEO also expressed confidence that the Super Eagles would overcome its challenge and strive towards securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Tobe Okigbo, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, pledged support for the team, building on the euphoria of its win against Uganda.
MTN Nigeria in 2021 signed a deal with the NFF in 2021 as the Official Telecoms Partner, and has been a pillar of support for Nigerian football for over two decades. (NAN)
