Myanmar authorities said that it has seized over 170,000 stimulant tablets in the central Mandalay region, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) reported on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the anti-narcotics police raided a guesthouse in Chanmyathazi Township on Sunday,where it confiscated 2,000 stimulant tablets and arresting a suspect.
Further investigation had led to the discovery of 171,000 more tablets at the suspect’s house in Patheingyi Township, the report said.
It said that the seized drugs had a street value of over 346 million kyats (about 0.164 million U.S. dollars).
The report added that the suspect has been charged under the country’s laws, and a further investigation was ongoing. (Xinhua/NAN)
